IHP was thrilled to be invited to Buckingham Palace yesterday by His Majesty The King and Her Majesty the Queen, to celebrate our 20th anniversary in sourcing and distributing medicines to millions of patients across the world.
HM the King, our royal patron, has been a firm supporter of IHP since our inception, and at the Humanitarian Reception, IHP staff, partners and donors were pleased to be able to engage directly with His Majesty, showcasing our Essential Health Packs, explaining our source, ship and deliver process, and discuss the growing need for access to medicines worldwide.
The King was joined by Her Majesty The Queen, and Their Royal Highnesses The Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, with 400 guests from across the humanitarian sphere, including NGOs, charities, celebrities and major donors.
IHP was one of just four organisations featured, alongside Christian Aid, Islamic Relief and ShelterBox, who were also celebrating milestone birthdays. The event also featured a gallery of images celebrating the work of the Disasters Emergency Committee.
Meeting with staff, donors and partners, His Majesty was particularly interested in hearing how we ship and distribute at temperature, speaking in depth with logistics and operations colleagues, and meeting with Dan Peacock, Managing Director from DHL Supply Chain. Nisreen Khalaf, Medical Donations Director from partner Anera, explained her first-hand experience of the impact of IHP products in clinics across the Middle East.
We were delighted to be joined by several of our long-term donors and corporate supporters from across the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, who met with the Royal Family, sharing their commitment to social impact in supplying IHP with vital medicines and medical products.
Her Majesty the Queen and Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal were particularly interested in the last mile of supply chain, the scale of IHP’s work and spoke with several of our guests on their involvement with IHP over the years.
Sean Greathead, Chair of the IHP Board, who spoke with His Majesty the King and Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal says:
“It was an honour to meet directly with His Majesty who has been such a loyal supporter of IHP. The reception was a testament to the work of humanitarian workers and the corporates alongside us, who enable us to deliver outstanding results for patients worldwide. His Majesty and all members of the Royal Family have such broad experience, it was interesting to hear their perspectives and explain our logistics and operations. Thank you to His Majesty for hosting us, and his continued service and ongoing support to IHP.”
Sean Greathead, Chairman of IHP
