IHP statement on cuts to UK's Official Development Assistance budget

In response to news that the UK's aid budget has been cut to 0.3%, International Health Partners issues the following statement

26 February 2025

"We are incredibly disappointed in the Prime Minister’s decision to cut the UK aid budget further.  This is a short-sighted move when humanitarian needs are soaring due to global conflict and the climate crisis, a third of the world’s population does not have access to medical care, and there are record levels of displacement.

Our NGO partners are working in increasingly complex environments, with medical and treatment needs far outstripping supply, and this cut will further weaken the sector’s ability to provide life-saving medication, establish and run clinics for primary healthcare, and treat chronic conditions.  It is with thanks to our donors and supporters that we continue to bridge the gap in healthcare, but we cannot do this alone. We urge the Government to reconsider its decision and fully commit to supporting the world’s most vulnerable people."
