Teleza, Malawi
Teleza, is 19 and is from Chibojola village in Malawi. She was suffering from a fever and so visited Nkhamenya Hospital. The doctor looking after her said she was weak, unable to walk without support, had a high fever, a loss of appetite, and was in considerable pain.
The doctor saw the burden that Teleza's illness was having on her and her family. Teleza was diagnosed with an acute bacterial infection and malaria. She was treated with medicines, including paracetamol and trimethoprim. (Donated by Accord, a generics company and long-term partner of IHP). The doctor shared the patient’s thanks:
“The patient went home while smiling, she was walking on her own, and she said, "thank you doctors and nurses for helping and taking good care of me. I never thought I could get better."
